Overview

Reporting to the Executive Team, the HR Manager will advise and implement talent strategies and best practices to achieve business goals across work locations (Canada, US, Philippines).  The HR Manager will design and implement programs, policies, and benefits to maintain a positive employee experience globally.  This is a standalone HR role with a hybrid schedule.  The HR Manager is required to work at the Toronto Head Office a minimum of twice per month.

This is a full-time, permanent position with growth opportunity. Although we are currently working remotely, we will be moving towards a hybrid work model.

WHAT YOU DO

  • Administer all daily HR operational tasks for the Firm including global talent acquisition and onboarding, global HRIS administration, global payroll processing, and the global performance and salary review process.
  • Draft all HR and employee-related communication such as employee memos, company-wide announcements, and employment verification letters.
  • Provide sound advice and guidance to the leadership team on all people related matters, including progressive discipline.
  • Support positive employee relations by providing timely answers to employee queries and advising leadership on any trends to proactively address employee concerns.
  • Optimize employee retention through an effective HR Strategy including reward and recognition, social connections, and diversity programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment-related legislation across all locations (Canada, US, Philippines).
  • Manage leaves of absence including disability leaves.
  • Implement automation and technology to ensure smooth and seamless HR processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Prepare HR metrics for the leadership team
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

WHAT YOU HAVE

REQUIREMENTS:

Legally able to work in Canada

Education & Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, or a related field, or the equivalent in experience.
  • Completion of or working towards the CHRL designation preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law for Ontario with some knowledge of other provincial employment law and US employment law.

Experience

  • Several years of related work experience in a progressive Human Resources Generalist role.
  • Previous experience in a stand-alone HR role or with very minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in a tech firm is preferred.
  • Previous relevant experience supporting employees across Canada and the US required; experience with supporting a team in the Philippines is a definite asset.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to persuade and negotiate.
  • Able to work independently with no direction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive and difficult issues in a confidential manner.
  • Developed technology skills including the intermediate to advanced skills using MS 365, Teams, SharePoint and HR systems.
